Newcastle archway collapse injures two

Two men have been injured after a brick archway collapsed at a building site on Tyneside.

Ambulance and fire crews were called to the site on City Road, Newcastle, at 0945 GMT on Tuesday, and the area was cordoned off.

Northumbria Police said the men were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The Health and Safety Executive has been informed. Albion Road and Byker Bank are currently closed to traffic.
