A 19-year-old man killed when his car overturned in Northumberland has been described by his family as a "lovely lad".

Karl James Reay, from Whitley Bay, died in the incident on the A189 in Cramlington on Saturday.

His 18-year-old girlfriend, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was injured.

The 19-year-old female driver of another car was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later bailed.

Mr Reay's mother, father and two sisters said in a statement: "He is a lovely lad who is full of energy and he will be sorely missed."

His girlfriend, Megan Wealleans, said that their 13 months together where the best times of her life, and her family was proud to have known him.
