Five charged after South Tyneside drugs inquiry

Five people have been charged by police investigating the supply of a batch of suspected contaminated drugs in South Tyneside.

In December last year, five people were treated in hospital after they fell ill.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said four men and a woman, all from South Shields and aged between 21 and 30, had been charged with a number of offences.

They are due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates later.
