Pedestrian dies in County Durham minibus crash

A pedestrian has died in a collision with a minibus on a County Durham road.

Darren Wake, 43, of Wheatley Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the A181 at Running Waters shortly before 0120 BST.

Durham Police said it was believed he had stepped on to the road. The minibus taxi was taking people to their homes in the Peterlee area.

The road was closed for four hours for accident investigation. Police are appealing for any witnesses.
