A man arrested on suspicion of setting fire to Liverpool striker Andy Carroll's car has been told he will face no further action.

The former Newcastle player was at the house of his then captain Kevin Nolan, in Ponteland, Northumberland, when his Range Rover was set alight in October.

A 33-year-old man, of Whitley Bay, was arrested in April and released on bail.

Northumbria Police said he would face no further action and inquiries into the incident were ongoing.

Carroll moved from Newcastle to Liverpool in January in a £35m transfer.
