Police are appealing for witnesses after a disabled boy's mobility aid was stolen in a "callous crime" in Tynemouth.

The walking frame was taken from outside a house in Ashleigh Grove between 07:00 and 07:30 BST on Friday.

The distinctive frame is described as cherry red with four wheels.

Northumbria Police said they believed the frame might have been stolen for its scrap metal value.

PC Sharon Douglas said it was "a very callous crime as the frame is used to help a young disabled boy to walk".

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact Northumbria Police.
