Arrests made after armed burglary in South Shields

Three people have been arrested after armed thieves broke into a house in Tyneside.

At 12:50 BST police received a report of property having been stolen from a house in Malvern Street, South Shields.

Three people, all wearing balaclavas, pushed past an 18-year-old woman who had answered the door at the address.

Once inside they threatened the woman with a knife before making off with money and a 3-D television. The woman was left shocked but uninjured.

Three people, two 21-year-old men and a 26-year-old woman, have been arrested.
