Man, 70, arrested after vandalism in Sunderland

A 70-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after reports of vandalism to cars in Sunderland.

In the past few months, Northumbria Police has received 27 reports of cars being scratched while parked in the streets near to Seaburn Metro Station.

Officers carried out extensive enquiries into the damages and arrested the pensioner on Tuesday.

The man has since been released on police bail.
