Two men arrested after armed burglary in Washington

Two men have been arrested after a house in Tyne and Wear was broken into by three armed thieves while the residents were inside.

The incident happened at about 19:20 BST on Wednesday, at an address in Moorside, near Albany Park, Washington.

Police believe that three men, possibly armed with knives, entered the property and threatened the occupants. They then stole property and left the house.

Two men, aged 20, have been arrested in connection with the burglary.

They are currently in police custody.

No one was injured during the incident.

At this stage officers do not believe the burglary is linked to one in Capheaton, Northumberland, that happened on Tuesday.
