Bogus police officers steal pensioner's money in Gateshead

Bogus police officers entered a house and stole money from a 68-year-old woman in Gateshead.

The two men claimed to be police officers, produced what appeared to be a warrant and searched every room of the pensioner's house.

They stole a carrier bag of cash and claimed they were taking it to a police station in Newcastle. The woman was given no paperwork or receipts.

The raid took place at about 20:30 BST on Friday in Windy Nook.

Northumbria Police has made door-to-door inquiries in the area and investigations are continuing.
