Airfix model collection could fetch £6,000 in auction
Thousands of Airfix and other model kits are expected to fetch up to £6,000 at auction in Newcastle.
The collection, discovered in a house in South Shields in South Tyneside, is thought to be the largest collection of its kind ever sold.
The plastic scale model kits, which have been collected over decades, are all housed in their original packaging.
The kits will go under the hammer at Anderson and Garland Auctioneers on Wednesday 18 July.
John Anderson from the auctioneers, said: "This is an unusually large collection of Airfix model kits.
"The fact that the kits are in untouched condition substantially increases their appeal."
In its heyday, Airfix specialised in model planes, ships and tanks of World War II.
