Police are searching a boating lake in a Newcastle park where a missing County Durham teenager was last seen.

Kelvin Bradley, 18, did not return home to Ferryhill on Saturday after a night out in Newcastle.

A team from Northumbria Police has been examining Leazes Park and a marine unit is searching the lake.

Durham Constabulary is also trying to trace two girls thought to have been with the teenager on Saturday night.

Ch Insp Graham Milne said there had been reports a young man matching Mr Bradley's description was seen with two teenage girls in Leazes Park at about 20:00 BST on Saturday.

He said they had spoken to a security guard working at St James's Park, who was patrolling Barrack Road.

Ch Insp Milne said: "I would appeal to those young women to contact us as they could have information vital to the investigation into Kelvin's disappearance.

"We need to establish where he went after that and who he was with."

He added that police believed Mr Bradley bought alcohol from a Tesco store on Leazes Park Road at about 18:30 BST.

Anyone who thinks they have seen him or has any information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the police.
