A cyclist who died after falling off her bike in North Tyneside has been identified.

Police said Natasha Chhina-Beverley had been riding on the pavement near Ropery Lane, Wallsend, when she fell and struck her head on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old, of Howdon, was treated at the Royal Victoria Infirmary but her life could not be saved.

Officers said a Go North East bus had been passing at the time on Wednesday and want to speak to passengers.

The number one bus was travelling from Wallsend High Street to Rosehill Social Club.

Police shut the nearby A193 Church Bank for about four hours while an investigation took place.
