Detonators stolen from Sunderland railway line

Six detonators have been stolen from a railway line in Sunderland.

Police said the theft happened between 23:00 BST on Saturday and 01:00 BST on Sunday near Villette Road.

Rail staff had been working on the line when they noticed the detonators had been taken.

British Transport Police said the detonators - which are discs about 5cm (2") in diameter - contained explosive and could be dangerous in untrained hands.
