Man arrested over death of woman in Hebburn

A man has been arrested over the death of a woman on South Tyneside, which is being treating as unexplained.

Officers were called to a house in Dorset Avenue, Hebburn on Monday afternoon, where they found the body of an 86-year-old woman.

A post-mortem examination is being carried out in an effort to determine an exact cause of death.

Northumbria Police said a 57-year-old local man had been arrested and bailed in connection with the woman's death.

A force spokeswoman said they were not looking for anyone else.
