CQC fine for Willow Green care Home in Darlington

The owner of a Darlington care home has been fined £4,000 for failing to properly manage medication given to elderly residents.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) penalty came after two unannounced visits to Willow Green by inspectors.

The watchdog said some staff were unable properly to identify medicines and ignored instructions about when they were to be administered.

Owner, St Martin's Care Ltd, told the CQC it now complied with guidelines.

Malcolm Bower-Brown, CQC's director in the North said: "Although the provider has now taken action to achieve compliance, we will keep Willow Green under review to ensure that the improvements we have found in our most recent inspection are sustained."

The home, in Eastbourne Road, Darlington, caters for 63 residents.
