Tyne and Wear Metro cleaners strike for twelfth time

Cleaners working on the Tyne and Wear Metro will strike for the twelfth time on Wednesday.

The cleaners, who work for Churchill, will take a further 24 hours of strike action in a battle over pay.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said the action would come to an end at 22:29 GMT on Thursday.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow, said members would be back on the picket lines in 2013 "geared up for a victory".

Services on the network have been unaffected by previous strikes by the cleaners.
