CCTV images have been released showing a missing Newcastle student hours before he was last seen.

Jason Fyles, 19, from Bowsden Court, Gosforth, was last seen at an address on Helmsley Road, Sandyford, at 02:45 BST on 16 May.

The CCTV images show the Newcastle University student, who had earlier gone out with friends, at Monument Metro station at 23:26 on 15 May.

Mr Fyles' family have appealed for him to come home.

His father, Ian Fyles, spoke alongside his mother, Caroline, and brother and sister, Shaun and Kimberley, in their appeal.

'Help and support'

"Jason you are more than just a son and brother, you are a friend," he said

"We miss you greatly, your wry sense of humour, easy smile and keen wit. You must know we all love and miss you."

The last message posted from Jason Fyles' Twitter account at 19:03 on 15 May appeared to show him appealing for help.

He spent the night socialising in Newcastle city centre, before visiting a friend's address in the early hours, where he was last seen.

Police said he was wearing a blue T-shirt, grey jumper, beige chino trousers and brown leather shoes.

Ian Fyles passed on messages from family members and thanked those who had helped since his son, who is originally from Southport in Merseyside, went missing.

"We'd like to thank all Jason's friends, and the students and lecturers at Newcastle University for all their warmth, help and support," he said.
