Three arrests after man's body found in Newcastle

Three people have been arrested after a man's body was found in a street in Newcastle.

A man, who has not been identified but thought to be in his 40s, was found by police near Byker Wall at 02:15 BST. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two men, aged 19 and 26, and an 18-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the death and are in police custody.

Northumbria Police is appealing for witnesses.

Det Ch Insp Christina Barrett said: "This death appears to involve a number of people who were all known to each other.

"We have officers conducting enquiries in the area today and we would ask that anyone with information contact us."
