Care home accountant Steven Mason admits fraud
A County Durham care home accountant has admitted defrauding the estates of dead residents out of £180,000.
Steven Mason carried out the fraud between September 2010 and September 2011, while a group auditor at Four Seasons Health Care.
Teesside Crown Court heard the 36-year-old, of Seaview, in Easington, withdrew money from the bank accounts of dead residents who lived across the UK.
The case was adjourned until September after he admitted one count of fraud.
Christopher Knox, defending, said he would ask for a psychiatrist's advice "to deal with the question of addiction".
Mason was granted unconditional bail.
