Teacher Anne Lakey facing retrial over boy sex charges
A County Durham teacher accused of sex offences against a 13-year-old boy is to face a retrial.
A jury at Durham Crown Court last week failed to reach verdicts in the trial of Anne Lakey, from Stanley, who had denied six indecent assault charges.
The now 54-year-old, head of a group of schools, is alleged to have had an affair with the boy, who was not one of her pupils, in the late 1980s.
Ms Lakey was in court to hear she would face a fresh trial in January.
The married mother-of-one, was a history teacher in Sunderland at the time of the allegations.
She is currently suspended from her post as chief executive of the Durham Federation of Schools, which includes Durham Community Business College in Ushaw Moor and Fyndoune Community College in Sacriston.
