Murder arrest after Willington field body find

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in a field in County Durham.

The body of the 42-year-old man was found to the rear of Willington High Street, near Crook, at about 01:00 BST.

Durham Police said it had not been able to carry out a formal identification, and a post-mortem examination would be carried out later.

A 22-year-old local man is being questioned by detectives at Peterlee police station.

The area remains cordoned off while investigators carry out their work.
