Eastgarth stabbing victim dies in hospital

A man who was found with stab wounds in a street in Newcastle has died in hospital.

The man in his 40s was found in Eastgarth, in the Westerhope area, at 23:00 BST on Friday.

He was taken to the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary in a critical condition. He died in hospital on Tuesday.

Two youths, aged 15 and 18, were charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on 10 November.
