A teenager accused of having a gun, ammunition and explosives with intent to endanger life has appeared in court via videolink.

Liam Lyburd, 18, of Hamilton Place in Newcastle, was further remanded in custody following the hearing at the city's crown court.

He did not enter a plea and is set to face trial in April.

Mr Lyburd was arrested after police officers searched his home earlier this month.

He is charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possessing ammunition with intent to endanger life and five counts of possessing an explosive substance, namely a pipe bomb, with intent to endanger life.
