Tributes paid to Hazel Nunn after fatal A181 crash

Tributes have been paid to a woman who died after being struck by a car in County Durham.

Hazel Nunn, 36, from the Hertfordshire area, died at the scene after a Seat Ibiza hit her on the A181 on Wednesday.

It happened close to the junction of Ludworth and Shadforth, near Thornley, shortly after 14:30 BST.

Her family said they were "devastated" by their loss and described Miss Nunn as a person with a "a huge passion for life".

"To all who knew her, she was a wonderful, caring and loving person who touched so many lives in so many ways," their statement said.

The road was closed for around three hours while officers examined the scene.

The driver of the Seat, a 51-year-old woman, from Peterlee, was not injured.
