A man has been charged after firefighters were attacked as they tackled a house blaze on Wearside.
Four members of the Tyne and Wear crew were hurt in the incident in Houghton-le-Spring on Wednesday night, with one needing hospital treatment.
A 34-year-old man from the Houghton area has been charged with common assault. He is due to appear at Sunderland Magistrates' Court on 9 May.
Northumbria Police said two people had been reported for summons.
The crew members suffered head and facial injuries.
