Six men released after woman attacked in Sunderland house

Six men arrested after a woman was attacked in a house in Sunderland have been released with no further action.

The 26-year old had been in the city centre on 3 September and woke up in a property in Peel Street with cuts and bruises, police said.

She managed to leave the house and get to a family member's home at about 05:00 BST on the Sunday.

Northumbria Police said following a Crown Prosecution Service investigation all six men will not face any charges.

Supt Paul Milner said: "Our utmost priority is the victim and making sure she has the full support she needs.

"Our investigation remains open and if any further information does come to light this will be fully investigated."
