Motorcyclist killed in crash in Northumberland

A motorcyclist has died in a crash in Northumberland.

A blue Ford S Max and a red Honda CBR motorcycle collided at about 09:10 BST on the A696 near Kirkwhelpington, Northumbria Police said.

The male motorcyclist, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His condition is described as stable, police added.

An investigation into the collision is under way and police are appealing for witnesses.
