Demolition plan for former school in County Durham

Councillors are being asked to approve the demolition of a former school in County Durham.

It had been hoped that when Hamsteels Primary School in Esh Winning closed in August 2008 the parish council could take over the site.

But it was unable to raise the necessary funds to refurbish the building.

If demolished, the council could recoup up to £163,000 for the site and allow the area to be redeveloped.
