A new station which will train firefighters of the future has opened in County Durham.

The new building in Enterprise Way on the Green Lane industrial estate in Spennymoor, replaces the old station at Bessemer Park which opened in 1970.

As well as two fire engines, the station boasts a four-storey tower to train new recruits.

The station also has facilities where local people and voluntary groups can receive community safety advice.
