Work to reduce County Durham homes flood risk

  • Published

More than one million pounds is being spent on protecting homes in two areas of County Durham from the risk of flooding.

Work on the £448,000 scheme in Stanley is due to begin later, and the £735,000 project in Neville's Cross will get under way on 25 October.

Both will take about five months to complete, and involve installing new sewer pipes and upgrading outflows.

Northumbrian Water said the work would involve temporary road closures.
