Knifeman targets Wearside service station


A man who threatened a member of staff at a Wearside service station with a knife during an attempted robbery is being sought by police.

The would-be robber targeted Snippergate Service Station, in South Hetton Road, Houghton-le-Spring, on Friday evening.

His demand for cash was refused and he left empty-handed.

He is described as about 5ft 6ins tall, was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered with a scarf and a mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police.
