Two men suffer machete injuries in Sunderland

Two men have been treated in hospital for injuries thought to have been caused by machetes in Sunderland.

The 22-year-old men were found injured at an address in Hudson Road, Hendon, on Saturday morning.

Northumbria Police said they recovered two machetes and arrested a 22-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of assault.

Acting Det Sgt Neil Swainston, of Northumbria Police, said officers did not believe it was a random attack.
