Two men have been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the "unexplained" death of a member of staff at a County Durham nightclub.

Father-of-three Peter Jopling, 40, from Shotley Bridge, who worked at Decades, in Consett, was taken to hospital early on Sunday, but later died.

Police said they had arrested two local men, aged 33 and 34, in connection with the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Durham Police.

Officers are attempting to establish whether Mr Jopling's death was linked to an earlier incident when some customers were ejected from the club.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later to establish a formal cause of death.
