Uncle remanded over Jordan Cooper murder

The uncle of a 14-year-old boy has been remanded in custody accused of stabbing him to death on Wearside.

Jordan Cooper was found in a house in Newriggs, in the Fatfield area of Washington, early on Tuesday. He died later in hospital.

His uncle Alan Cooper, 31, of no fixed address, appeared before Sunderland magistrates on Wednesday, charged with murder. No bail application was made.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court within 48 hours.
