Fake £20 notes warning to County Durham small firms

People and businesses in the south of County Durham have been warned to be on their guard against fake £20 notes.

It follows a number of reports of counterfeit currency being circulated in the Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe areas.

Police said small companies and charity shops, which could be seen as potential easy targets, had been targeted.

Anyone accepting currency is urged to be vigilant and use counterfeit detection methods if available.
