The funeral of a Gurkha soldier killed in a "premeditated attack" by a rogue Afghan soldier has been held at Salisbury Cathedral.
Major Josh Bowman, 34, from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, was shot in Afghanistan alongside Lt Neal Turkington and Cpl Arjun Purja Pun.
His family said: "He was the best possible son and brother who will be missed by his family and friends."
Major Bowman was killed on 13 July by a member of the Afghan National Army.
Major Bowman, from Salisbury, began his military career as a rifle platoon commander in B Company 1st Battalion The Light Infantry having commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1999.
The statement issued by his family, after his death, added: "He loved the Army and was very proud of the selfless work that he and his Company were doing."
