A man in his 70s from Somerset has died almost a week after the taxi he was in was involved in a crash on the A303 in Wiltshire.

James Lange, 77, from Yeovil, was travelling with his wife Maureen when the vehicle was in a collision with a Ford Granada last Wednesday.

They were both taken to Salisbury District Hospital. Mr Lange was seriously injured and died on Monday.

Mrs Lange, 73, suffered minor injuries and was discharged from hospital.

The crash happened at Yarnbury Hill, Deptford at about 1220 BST.

A police spokesman said the vehicles, which were both travelling east, left the carriageway and went down a steep bank.

Police are appealing for witnesses including the driver of a Tarmac lorry who helped at the scene, and a couple who offered first aid.
