Jewellery stolen from two Swindon properties

Jewellery worth thousands of pounds was stolen from two houses in Swindon while the occupants were on holiday.

Police said thieves forced their way into a property in Old Town, making off with almost £30,000 worth of jewellery between Friday and Sunday.

A house in the Walcot area of the town was also targeted overnight between Friday and Saturday.

The spokesman said only jewellery was stolen in both thefts and other valuable items were ignored.

In a third incident, someone tried to force open the front door of a property in Shrivenham Road while the occupant was out but failed.

Det Con Ian Crouch said officers believed the incidents could be linked.

He appealed for witnesses and asked anyone who was offered jewellery and was suspicious to call police.
