Wiltshire fire cadets group given cash life-line

A fire cadets group, which faced closure after losing its funding, has been given a cash boost.

Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is ending its sponsorship of Cricklade and Ludgershall cadet groups due to cuts in its budget.

The county council's Tidworth Area Board is now giving the Ludgershall unit cash to operate until next April.

Organisers said there were plans to increase subscriptions and do more fundraising.

The groups give 13 to 17-year-olds the opportunity to work with fire and rescue equipment and learn to work together as a team.
