Motorists warned of severe ice on Wiltshire roads

Motorists in Wiltshire are being warned of severe ice on the roads after a weekend of heavy snow and freezing temperatures.

Wiltshire Council said all main routes were being gritted, but untreated minor roads could be treacherous.

Churchfield School in Swindon was due to have an extra day of lessons after being shut earlier in the month due to illness, but this has been cancelled.

More snow and sleet was expected across the county, weather forecasters said.

A number of bus services were suspended in the county over the weekend after several inches of snow fell on Saturday.

Thamesdown Transport said it was hoping to run a full service on Monday, but some delays could be expected due to the road conditions.

The snow also led to Swindon's match against Tranmere on Saturday being postponed.

Other games featuring Salisbury, Chippenham and Swindon Marine were also called off.
