Toddler seriously injured as car hits tree in Wiltshire

A two-year-old child is seriously ill in hospital after a car crashed into a tree near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

The accident happened on the Savernake Road, near its junction with Grand Avenue, at 1305 GMT on Christmas day.

The toddler, who was travelling in the car, suffered a serious head injury. The 29-year-old woman driver was taken to hospital, but discharged after treatment.

The road was closed for two-and-a-half hours after the collision.
