Salisbury to get community orchards

Two community orchards are to be planted in Salisbury with the hope that they will be the first in a series in the city.

The council said 12 apple trees would be planted at Fisherton Recreation Ground and a mix of 10 apple, plum and cherry trees at Bishopsdown.

It said it had chosen varieties which would produce springtime blossom displays.

It is hoped that the orchards will provide locally grown fruit for free.
