Swindon stabbing: Edino Carvalho on Jose Pereira murder charge

A Swindon man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 40-year-old man in the town.

Jose Maria Raimundo Pereira was found stabbed in Manchester Road on Friday 20 May but the emergency services were unable to save him.

Edino Carvalho, 23, from Plymouth Street, was remanded in custody to appear before Bristol Crown Court.

A 22-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder at the same time has been released on police bail.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Pereira had died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Wiltshire Police continue to appeal for witnesses.
