Abandoned bull terriers increasing in Swindon

The number of abandoned Staffordshire bull terriers in Swindon is increasing, the borough council said.

The authority's dog warden team has blamed excessive breeding and people's fear of the dogs due to their reputation.

They expect 10 times more dogs to be put down this year compared to last year, totalling about 50.

Swindon Borough Council's Kay Giblet said: "There are too many of them, and there are not enough homes for them."
