Ladder safety initiative started by Swindon council

A campaign has begun in Wiltshire to reduce the number of major injuries caused by faulty ladders.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) says there have been 58 major falls across the county since 2005.

In partnership with the HSE, Swindon Borough Council has started a "Ladder Exchange".

The plan will enable people with broken ladders to visit local DIY retailers and replace them with new ones at a discounted price.
