Marlborough homes lose power after digger cuts cables

Up to 3,000 homes in Marlborough were without electricity after a digger cut through power lines.

Southern Electric has restored power to about 2,000 homes in a "phased switch on" after the incident at 09:15 GMT.

The energy company, one of the UK's largest, said it could take up to eight hours to restore power fully to the lines in the Crench Common area.

Several hamlets near Marlborough were also affected.
