Swindon brothel St Tropez closed down by police

A brothel in Swindon is being closed down by police.

It is the first time Wiltshire Police has used the Sexual Offences Act 2003 to apply for the closure of a brothel in the county.

The closure order prevents anyone from entering St Tropez, on Victoria Road, for three months. The building will remain boarded up during that time.

Sgt Graham McLaughlin said: "It has been a blot on Swindon's landscape for a number of years."

Wiltshire Police will patrol the area during the closure to make sure there are no breaches in the order.

Mr McLaughlin added: "The associated anti-social behaviour which it has attracted has also had a very negative effect on the local area."
