Footballer Nile Ranger has been charged after a door and lift were damaged at flats in Swindon.

Wiltshire Police said Mr Ranger, 23, was arrested on Monday after the incident at Gordon Gardens at about 04:00 BST on 13 April.

The Swindon Town player, who formerly played for Newcastle, will not face further charges of common assault.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The arrest came following the release of CCTV footage to a Sunday newspaper.

The club has asked the player to attend a disciplinary hearing on Thursday, BBC Wiltshire reported.
