A North Yorkshire council is having to re-schedule a by-election for three councillors after no-one came forward for the vacancies.
The Filey Town Council by-election was due to be held on 9 September after three councillors stood down.
Scarborough Council, responsible for administering the elections, said it had not received a single nomination by the deadline.
A new election is likely to be set for October and nominations will restart.
Sue Bedford, election officer at Scarborough Borough Council, which is responsible for administering the elections, said: "I have been doing this job for 10 years and this is the first time this has happened in my experience.
"Sometimes a nomination will come in and people are elected without contest, but I've never known a position where we've had to re-run an election because no nominations have been received."
